Simple edging can be added to just about any project  and it makes your design look complete and a bit more sophisticated.

There are lots of projects and in this page I am going to show the easiest and the most used.

In order to make an edging we should first prepare the fabric so that we can easily add the border.

There are different techniques to add an edging onto a fabric. The one that you are going to use depends on the project.

1. The first technique is to finish the edging and then sew it on the fabric.

Or you begin by marking the foundation on the towel or any other fabric you would like to use: Use a washable marking pen. Then you have different ways to prepare the fabric:

3.  Crochet directly onto fabric. The benefit of crocheting directly onto the towel is that the process is much quicker than making the lace and hand-sewing it on.

Then you can add the edging and the crochet one or two rows of Single Crochet Stitch or Half Double Crochet stitch or Double Crochet Stitch and the start crocheting the edging:

2.  You can prepare the fabric by making the Blanket stitch.

Crochet: How to make corners to edgings- 2 techniques in order to make edging corners to fabric or blankets/SUBTITLES

In this tutorial I am going to explain how to edge the corners

In order to edge around:
For each chain or single crochet row or stitch
make: 1 stitch
For each row of half double crochets make: 2 stitches
For each row of Double crochets make 3 stitches

Change the colour of the yarn:
in order to change the colour of the yarn ( no matter which stitch you are going to use), make the stitch as usual till the final yarn over and then yarn over by using the new colour

For this tutorial I've used a swatch made by half double crochets and I am going to edge around by using the single crochet stitch also called blanket stitch

How to make the corner: Technique 1
make 1 singlecrochet into the last stitch of the row, ch 2 and make 1 single crochet into the next one (first lateral stitch)

How to make the corner: Technique 2
make 1 (or 2)single crochet into the last stitch of the row, and make 2 single crochets into the next one ( first lateral stitch)

Anyway, the patterns use to indicate how to make the corners as well,  in case there's no indication

you use one of these two techniques

The Blanket stitch Edging or Spike Stitch Edging.

There is not a specific multiple for this stitch... all depends on the stitches you have in your disposition.

Any multiple could go well, and you should space the stitches to suit them in the number of stitches you have on the row or the round.

For this tutorial I calculated a multiple of 4 + 3 stitches
